Nietzche wrote, "there are no facts, only interpretations" (Notebooks, Summer 1886). Susan Sontag, in her seminal essay 'Against Interpretation' (1964) challenges the notion of interpretation in art, claiming that in place of hermeneutics we need 'an erotic's of art'. Sontag maintains that the the theory of art has been over intellectualised at the expense of experience. We are using Sontag and Nietzsche as a starting point, We are following a process based exploration of these themes through lens based media.
This site is where we document our entry to the Young Philosopher Award. This is where we will exhibit our experiments, making and learning. Enjoy! |
